Yep: Are you listening Ben Chandler?
Stupid bastards: I guess they never listened to the advice of Harry Truman when he said – if voters have a choice between a Republican and a Democratic who acts like a Republican – they’ll choose the Republican every time.

Things Brian Williams(etc.), won't tell you.

In the wake of the mass arrest of anti-Wall Street protesters, a donation of $4.6million that JPMorgan Chase made to the New York City Police Foundation is getting renewed attention online, including on Occupy Wall St.'s website. According to the major bank's website, the gift was "the largest in the history of the foundation and will enable the New York City Police Department to strengthen security in the Big Apple.

On Democratic Incompetence, And Republican Manipulation
Posted on 09:42 by Unknown
I rarely(if ever) put a must read on an article but this truthout piece by former GOP congressional staff member of 16 years Mike Lofgren should be read by every literate American citizen(and read to the illiterate). It explains what I've often called the "chickens for Colonel Sanders" effect in American politics. The poor and middle class low-information voters who vote straight Republican consistently(yes I know the Dems are bad enough).

Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult
-
"I left because I was appalled at the headlong rush of Republicans, like Gadarene swine, to embrace policies that are deeply damaging to this country's future; and contemptuous of the feckless, craven incompetence of Democrats in their half-hearted attempts to stop them."

Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult
..How do they manage to do this? Because Democrats ceded the field. Above all, they do not understand language. Their initiatives are posed in impenetrable policy-speak: the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The what? - can anyone even remember it? No wonder the pejorative "Obamacare" won out. Contrast that with the Republicans' Patriot Act. You're a patriot, aren't you? Does anyone at the GED level have a clue what a Stimulus Bill is supposed to be? Why didn't the White House call it the Jobs Bill and keep pounding on that theme?
You know that Social Security and Medicare are in jeopardy when even Democrats refer to them as entitlements. "Entitlement" has a negative sound in colloquial English: somebody who is "entitled" selfishly claims something he doesn't really deserve. Why not call them "earned benefits," which is what they are because we all contribute payroll taxes to fund them? That would never occur to the Democrats. Republicans don't make that mistake; they are relentlessly on message: it is never the "estate tax," it is the "death tax." Heaven forbid that the Walton family should give up one penny of its $86-billion fortune. All of that lucre is necessary to ensure that unions be kept out of Wal-Mart, that women employees not be promoted and that politicians be kept on a short leash.
It was not always thus. It would have been hard to find an uneducated farmer during the depression of the 1890s who did not have a very accurate idea about exactly which economic interests were shafting him. An unemployed worker in a breadline in 1932 would have felt little gratitude to the Rockefellers or the Mellons. But that is not the case in the present economic crisis. After a riot of unbridled greed such as the world has not seen since the conquistadors' looting expeditions and after an unprecedented broad and rapid transfer of wealth upward by Wall Street and its corporate satellites, where is the popular anger directed, at least as depicted in the media? At "Washington spending" - which has increased primarily to provide unemployment compensation, food stamps and Medicaid to those economically damaged by the previous decade's corporate saturnalia. Or the popular rage is harmlessly diverted against pseudo-issues: death panels, birtherism, gay marriage, abortion, and so on, none of which stands to dent the corporate bottom line in the
slightest.

Republicans Today, Part VII
Posted on 08:52 by Unknown
Booman condenses the conundrum(how often do I get to use that word?) of the teabaggers side of the Republican's coalition:
I'm Almost Sad for the Tea Partiers
"..Now, you can believe political rhetoric or you can believe your lying eyes. Republicans run up huge deficits whenever they have the power to do so, and they loot the treasury to enrich themselves and their political donors. That is literally what real Republicans live to do. That's the party's entire purpose. The deficits are not really the primary goal. They're a byproduct of their desire to pay the lowest possible taxes while steering the maximum amount of the government's money to their rich pals. The deficits do serve a purpose however. Once bounced from power, the Republicans behave as though it was the Democrats who produced those deficits. And they pound the Democrats to cut social programs that steer government money away from their rich pals to people who are in need of some assistance.."

I like that description "The big zero". Kiss your Medicare bye-bye granny?
The big zero is meeting with the Republicans this morning after the House voted not to raise the debt ceiling. This is where the zero “deals” with the Republicans to slash Medicare. It’s all working out as he and his corporatist pals have planned.

Surprising Headline; "Republicans Support Ticket"
Posted on 15:34 by Unknown
My local Lexington newspaper ran the surprising(apparently to them) headline in today's paper that "Republicans Will Support Their Ticket". My only question is, isn't that what they ALWAYS do? It's one of the few things Repubs do well, vote in lockstep.
With that in mind I've come up with a few helpful headlines for the folks at the Herald-Leader for the next few days, in a similar vein but no particular order: "Fish Breathe Water", "Sun Comes Up In East", "Water Runs Downhill", "Donald Trump Is A Dick", Etc.
You're welcome Herald-Leader..

Today's Headline: Budget Deal Update

Today President Obama said he was optimistic that the Democrats and Republicans working together could avert a government shutdown. The Republicans responded by saying that, "the President is a big poopypants, with kooties and boogers and we're gonna shut down the silly government anyways, because we can and because it'll please our BFF's, the cool Koch Brothers. So there...Liberals...PFFFT"

Koch Whores: Anti-Union Gov. Scott Walker And ABC "News"
Posted on 19:04 by Unknown
Caught the corporate news of ABC this morn. Wanted to post but had to be at work early for a long 8 hours.
SOoo finally here I am.
The talking head on ABC "News" was Ms...let's just call her, "what's her name" and she told me that there were going to be rallys in all 50 states in support of Wisconsin's public Union today organized by Moveon.org. Now if this were an actual "News" show I'd have seen an interview of someone at Moveon.org because that's a pretty impressive feat. Instead(surprise! not!) what I got was a quote by the Republican anti-union gov of Wisconsin Scott Walker, who was apparently concerned
that if he didn't bust the union the workers would have to be fired(or some B.S. like that). At this point the video changed to our intrepid journalist Ms. "what's her name" strolling with the Republican anti-union gov Scott Walker. Having seen corporate "liberal media news" before and knowing what was coming from ABC(Always Been Corporate) was going to be a commercial for Republican union buster Scott Walker I changed chammels. Goodbye corporate ABC "News", goodbye sharp reporter Ms. "what's her name", goodbye any chance of truth getting out on the tvs.
Meanwhile all you need to know about Republican anti-union thug Gov Scott Walker is right here. Talking to one of his main sugar daddies(or so he thought)
While I'm here here's Moveon's live stream of the protests. Not that it matters. Protests didn't matter in the build-up to the attack on Iraq and they won't matter in the busting up the final remnants of unions. Corporate "news" media will not allow it.

Maddow: Surprise! Gov Walker Is Just An Anti-Union Thug
Posted on 16:11 by Unknown
Actually all the Republicans are Anti-Union Thugs. No surprise..
"The question now is, do Democrats understand their own intitutions and their own strengths well enough to know they ought to be defending them."

"..they first came for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me —
and by that time no one was left to speak up."

Waste - The Food We Throw Away
Posted on 16:03 by Unknown
A shot of my work area on a recent morning with the out dated foods that I'll scan out of the system and throw in the store's garbage dumpster at the end of my shift in the chef shop. When I open the door on that dumpster there's often assorted piles of food(and everything in between) already there.

Starting at lower left and going clockwise; mesquite chicken, various panninis, trail slaw(good stuff), French marinated carrots, and in the center, broccoli salad. The cart to the right has various prepack containers which contain salads, hot browns and assorted others foods. The waste of foods, plastics, metals and everything else thrown away every day in(just this one large store) bothers me. But it's my "work" now...
